:- 1.0 out of 5 stars from rubcapgarTop Contributor: Woodworking -- Terrible translation : Terrible translation. Some paragraphs do not make sense at all. Tons of typos ( Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2018 )
- 1.0 out of 5 stars from J3 -- Buy A Different One= avoid this : The translation is poor, the style of the arrangement of paragraphs is confusing; overall, abysmal. Try the Penguin Classic instead. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Thomas -- This book has changed my life : If there is one book I can credit with leaving a profound impact on my life, it is this one. The practical way in which it breaks down Stoic concepts is priceless. Things that used to bother me no longer phase me, and others, not as much as they used too. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Paul Bilay -- The right copy : I saw a movie with Antonio Banderas where he used the Meditations to help guide his choices. I ordered one from a book store and it was not similar to the "simple quotes" used in the movie. There are many versions, so it was a bit difficult to sort through. I just went with the recommended translation by "George Long" and it seems like I found the right one; at least I like it. The cover is different than the one shown in the movie, but I think the version is the same. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2018 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kermit -- Amazing : It is incredible to me that anyone from that time period had the thoughts Aurelias had and the will power to write them all down. His thoughts clearly demonstrate the reason history sees the Roman Empire as such a massive leap of civilization. ( Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2021 )
- 2.0 out of 5 stars from Denny -- So repetitive and difficult to read : I was so excited to read this book so I can learn something to apply to my daily living. Super difficult to read I felt like I was back in my AP English class reading something in the lines of Shakespeare. And it’s so repetitive. Unfortunately had to skim through the book super duper quickly. ( Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Ricardo -- Marcus Aurelius Meditations : Wonderful meditations and reflections from a man who strive to maintain a humble spirit even as head of the most powerful empire of his time. Almost 2000 years later, the meditations of Marcus Aurelius still have a place in our modern world. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2020 )
- 2.0 out of 5 stars from Sir Gawain -- A truncated version : I had my suspicions because it says in the details it's only about 64 pages long and I have a couple of other translations of Marcus Aurelius by George Long and thay are at least 120 pages.
