:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from V -- Interactive and fun! One of my toddler's favorites! : My 19 month old calls this book “Oh no!” because the first page starts with, “Oh no! There’s a Monster in your book!” She requests this book by name so frequently. We got this book when she was 12 months old and it was almost immediately a favorite and has continued to be since then. The premise of the book is that there is a monster in the book that you are trying to get out. You do all kinds of things to try to accomplish this so the book is SUPER interactive. We have read this so frequently that my toddler knows what the instructions are for each page. So if you watch her when she is looking at this book on her own it appears as if she can “read” the instructions. For example, if she opens to the page that says to tickle the monster's toes, she will do it (and then tickle her own toes because that’s what we always do to her). It’s super adorable. This book has been a hit with every kid I’ve read it to! Five stars! ( Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2019 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Grandma -- 1 year old SURPRISED us! : I bought this book for my 4 yr old grand-daughter just over 4 months ago, but was concerned it may not be appropriate for her 1 yr old sister. The 4 yr old enjoyed it and then moved on to other books. However, it has remained a FAVORITE for her 15 month old sister who is now almost 20 months old and does all the appropriate actions herself: shaking, tilting, spinning the book; blowing, tickling, petting the monster and making the noises. She loves it and it has not left the must read pile in 5 months. When an adult decides they've read enough in one sitting (5-6 times), she'll just "read" it herself. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Shari -- Kids enjoy : Almost didnt get due to a few low ratings but Inam very glad we did. Kids are all different of course and mine enjoyed this book and I enjoy reading it. I like using expression when we read it, it makes the kids more interested. Pages ask them to wiggle the book, spin the book to make the most dizzy (they love that part), to blow on the page, to make a loud noise, and at the end to gently close the book. We have been reading it every night and all my kids ages 1, 3, 7, 8, and 9 like to come and listen. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2020 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Amy -- Fun to read : My 2 year old is obcessed with this book! He loves interacting with it. He wants mommy to read “Monster” every night haha. It’s a simple book, like all children’s books should be. Fun interaction with basic words that are used repeatedly to help learn the word. My son has no issue with “the monster in your room” portion BECAUSE I don’t make a big deal out of it. He just smiles and goes “oh no monster! Where you go?!” Then he giggles and says he’s hiding. Then we call him back and “peekaboo! There he is! He came back!”. You also know your kid best so filter what you need and make something up as you go if you need to. Bright simple illustrations. Happy this was one of our first prime kids books subscription box items. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2018 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Lindsay A. Lipton -- super cute and interactive book : My two and a half year old son loves this book! It is adorable and it is fun for the parent to read too. Some books are annoying for the adult reading it, but I really like this one. There are interactive pages where the reader is asked to do different things to "get the monster out of the book". At the end you put the monster back in the book and put him to bed quietly, which is good for bedtime for the child too! ( Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2020 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Roopesh Sheth -- Bedtime fun! : My four year old loves this book (as does my 7 year old)! They love the interaction while reading rather than just being read to. I don't know that I appreciate the yelling right before bed time but it's so much fun! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2018 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Bklyn2MA -- Simple, interactive and good ending : I love this book and so does my 2.5 year old and 4 year old! My 2.5 year old son has been scared of monsters all of a sudden. This introduces a cute little monster that is silly/mischievous but not scary.. it is very interactive... the end of the book, the monster lives in the book so he doesn’t have to be scared about him in his room... not 100% effective but my son is starting to learn monsters aren’t scary... - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Gina H. -- Interactive Book : These books are so much fun. Your child actually interacts with it by blowing, flapping, shaking etc to see what happens on the next page! I'm an elementary teacher, mom, and aunt. I absolutely recommend these books!! Even the bigger (fourth grade) kids love them! We used them as an example for the kids to write their own. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from kirstyes -- Adorable, Interactive story that kids (and their parents) will love reading together. : So I’m reviewing another picture book, and I bought this one! Written by Tom Fletcher of McFly fame and illustrated by Greg Abbott this is a short tale of trying to expel a monster from your book. It would be such a fun interactive story to read together because each page prompts another action to try and send him packing. Tickling, tilting, spinning, shouting. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from RDBoon -- Superb! : My toddler absolutely loves these books - we have Monster, Alien, Dragon, Witch and Wolf. All are brilliantly engaging and really allow you to have some fun. Monster was our first one and my daughter loved it so much that we instantly tried Alien, which became a firm but very close favourite. She loves tickling Monster and getting concerned when I tell her that he's not in the book any more but is now in the room somewhere!! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 7, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Crystal -- Fab for Toddlers : My 2 year old is going to love this book. A wonderful interactive book that's got the perfect amount of writing for a toddlers short attention span. Illustrations are colourful and simple. I love it and would recommend for young children. I can't wait to read it to my daughter. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 29, 2017 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kat -- Unique take on a picture book : This book is amazing. If I ask my nearly two year old to choose a book for bedtime 5 out of 7 nights he will pick this one without hesitation. He loved it from the first read. It's a unique take on a children's book, sparking curiosity, surprise and laughter. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 29, 2017 )
